The Minister of Sanitation, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, who swore in the members urged them to work hard and bring new ideas on board to help build and maintain the GWCL brand.
State asset
Mr Adda noted that the company was a state asset, hence it had to be taken proper care of and good decisions that would benefit the state and customers also had to be made. “Your decisions can make and unmake the company. The performance of GWCL will depend on you because you are a decision-making body,” he said.
Mr Adda further urged them to make policies that would reform both the financial and human resources of the company.
He emphasised on prudent management of the company’s finances, particulary as the GWCL was known for having procurement issues which mostly run the company into debts.
The minister stressed that a lot needed to be done at GWCL.
“Reform the place, bring in new ideas that will change the face of GWCL but offer the same services, serve the customers better and make sure every Ghanaian has access to good water,” he stressed.
Board’s pledge
The Chairman of the committee, Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, on behalf of the members pledged to work hard and diligently to ensure that the GWCL served its clients better and made Ghanaians happy.
“We pledge our loyalty and support. Our decisions will not affect the company in a negative way,” he noted.
