Bawumia to address Ghana’s 2017 transport and logistics conference Featured

The vice President, Dr. Alhaji Bawumia is billed to address the 2017 transport and logistics conference beginning Wednesday August 16 at the M.T Addico Conference Hall, Ghana Shippers House, Ridge, Accra.

The upcoming three days event is christened, “Ghana’s new momentum: Promoting Sustainable Transport and Logistics Value Chains through Public-Private Partnership.”

Other speakers will include the Minister for Business Development, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Minister of Transport, Hon. Cecilia Dapaah, Minister for Aviation and Hon. Joe Ghartey, Minister for Railway Development deliver address.

Tamale based events management Think Tank, Ridmut Consult is organizing the upcoming event in collaboration with the Ghana Shippers Authority, Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority and other industry players.

Chief Executive Officer of Ridmut Consult, Mutawakil Riyad in a Citi New interview explained the event’s rationale saying, “It seeks to create a synergy and strengthen the collaboration between the Public-Private sector in the transport and logistics industry aimed at bringing together different perspectives on leveraging private and public sector dialogue for sustainable development by engaging key stakeholders to deliberate on economic development issues in a non-partisan manner, as well as to discuss issues of inclusive industrial development and tackling challenges through the conference.”
According to him, the first session will encompass presentations on the transport and logistics situation in Ghana.

“The intention of this session is to give the participants the current picture of transportation value chain and demand in the country.”

“The second session will present the policies and strategies that are being implemented by the government in the non-conventional transport and logistics sector, interventions and support schemes.”

“For these two sessions, panelists who are experts in their own fields (such as Road, Railways, Air Travel, Maritime and Inland Transportation planning, project implementation would be invited to react and give their views on the presentations made. This is intended to ensure a wider and deeper deliberation of the topics presented from different perspectives.”

Mutawakil Riyad said the three days event will submit recommendations needed to help government succeed in branding Ghana as the Transportation hub of the West African Sub-Region.

High profile industry players expected to attend the event include Mr. Paul Asare Ansah, Director General Ghana Ports and Harbours Authoriry, Mr. John Attafuah, Managing Director Ghana Airports Company, Ms. Benonita Bismarck.
