Don't attempt entering Nyinahini concession – Minerals Commission orders Exton Cubic Featured

The Minerals Commission has directed Exton Cubic Group Limited to halt any attempt to commence bauxite mining at Nyinahini.

The directive, according to the Commission is because Exton Cubic Group has not met certain conditions per the terms of their mining lease.

Exton Cubic Group in a statement on Monday said it has been granted a Forestry Entry Permit by the Forestry Commission.

But the Mineral’S Commission statement said the validity of the Forestry Permit was strictly contingent upon the company’s fulfilment of all statutory regulations of the EPA, Water Resources Commission and Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission.

The statement added that the mining lease was subject to ratification by Parliament in accordance with Article 268(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 5(4) of Act 703.

“Upon the execution of this mining lease, the company shall submit a certified true copy of the mining lease to the Minister to be laid in Parliament for ratification,” the statement added.
