The bullet penetrated the lower side of his abdomen following an altercation between him and the suspect, Charles Nana Frimpong in front of a garage at the suburb.

Charles Nana Frimpong who was using a Hyundai Elantra vehicle was said to have angered some residents of Alajo when he shot at the mechanic who questioned why he had parked his vehicle wrongly.

But for the timely intervention of the police, the motorist, would have been lynched by an angry mob.

The mechanic, Yaw Boadi, was shot in the stomach.

The Police have since charged Charles Nana Frimpong with attempted murder and has been remanded in custody.

But according to the Tesano Police Commander, Superintendent Edward Tetteh, they will change the charge to murder..

Background

It all began when the mechanic and others questioned why the motorist had wrongly parked his vehicle at the entrance of an auto-mechanic shop at Alajo, which had resulted in a gridlock on Tuesday.

Frimpong was not immediately available when Boadi raised issues with the parking but had left a lady sitting in the car.

Frimpong’s behaviour angered Boadi and other members of the motoring public who demanded that the car be moved from the entrance of the shop to pave way for other vehicles to move.

Frimpong emerged from a distance and first fired a warning shot and followed it up with another shot which hit Boadi in the stomach to the shock of bystanders.

Eyewitnesses said the crowd moved angrily towards Frimpong, who quickly ran into his vehicle and locked it for his safety.

The angry crowd used objects to hit the Hyundai Elantra’s windscreens and windows. The vehicle’s bumper, tail light and side mirrors were damaged in the process.
